COMMUNITY RECREATION
CDS' Recreation Programs offer person-centered recreation and leisure activities to individual's ages five through adulthood living at home with their families through various community based programs to meet individual needs. Our specialized recreation services provide integrated settings for all participants.


Autism Recreation Program:
 
This program is twelve Saturdays per school year from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at SUNY Brockport for people ages 5+ who have a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum. Individuals are paired 1:1 with a college student and have the opportunity to participate in recreation activities of their choice around the campus. Transportation is provided from four pick-up sites in the Rochester and surrounding areas to and from the college. For more information, contact Kate Walsh at 347-1063.


 


Children's Recreation Program:

This program offers opportunities for children with developmental disabilities ages 5-12 in a truly integrated setting.  At the Wolf Life Transitions Center, children can utilize the therapy pool, creative arts studio, and media center, to name a few.  In addition, there are also activities and special events offered to enhance community intergration.  The program runs Monday- Friday from 3:30-5:30pm and two Saturdays per month. For more information, contact Kate Walsh at 347-1063.



Wolf Life Transitions Center Recreation:

This program serves individuals ages 13 and up.  Participants have access to a therapy pool, creative arts studio, model apartment, fitness center, garden center, music & dance studio, and media center, where most activities are held.  The program also offers the opportunity for community inclusion through activities such as; attending plays, community events, visiting museums & historic sites and participating in community service projects.  The program at the Wolf Life Transitions Center is therapy-based and works towards skills that will help the individual live and recreate independently in the community.  The program is offered Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 3:30-5:30pm, Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:30-3:30pm, and two Saturdays per month.  One-way transportation is provided.  For more information, contact Jerrud Hirschey at 347-1052 or Nicole Roman at 347-1063.
