EMPLOYMENT TRAINING

Pre-Vocational Services:

The program staffing consists of Vocational Counselors, Productions Supervisors and a Part-Time Registered Nurses to prepare individuals for employment. Pre-Vocational Services include:

  1. Adapting to work routines
  2. Acquiring Appropriate attitudes & work habits
  3. Adjusting to workplace demands
  4. Understanding job requirements/expectations
  5. How to use job related facilities

Unistel, CDS' work employment program, has two state-of-the-art  Pre-Vocational workshops located in Monroe County:

Supported Employment Program (SEMP)
Community Work Teams (Enclaves)

SEMP is paid competitive work that offers ongoing support services in integrated settings for individuals with the most significant disabilities.  The program staffing consists of Vocational Counselors, Job Coaches, Supported Work Instructors and a Placement Specialist.  Community Work Teams are small work groups with 6-8 individuals working in a community business with a Supported Work Instructor.

Individual Placements (IP)

Individual Placements are for individuals ready to independently work competitively in community employment. The program staffing consists of Vocational Counselors, Job Coaches and a Placement Specialist.  Services Include:


Summer Internship Program:

Students participating in the Summer Internship Program (SIP) will participate in a variety of work and vocational experiences. The Internship Program is a 5 week program that was developed to provide area High School Students with a paid work experience to further their vocational development. Paid work consists of sub-contract work available at Unistel, community volunteer experience and vocational development achieved through the delivery of a combination of learning experiences.
