General Visits Site Where Wounded Soldiers Could Get Job Training & Other Help

WEBSTER — An Army general visited Webster today to advocate better support for wounded solders in western New York after they come back from war.

Brig. Gen. Gary H. Cheek visited Wolf Life Transitions Center, which features a 20,000 square-foot industrial work center and restaurant to help people with vocational training while earning a paycheck.

The Webster center, which is run by Continuing Developmental Services Inc., will complement work being done by the Veterans Association and could be a model for other communities.

“We have the ability to provide clinical supports, which includes employment training, that will help give returning heroes a sense of value and purpose,” said Sankar Sewnauth, CDS president and CEO, in a press release.

Cheeks, who serves in the U.S. Army Medical Department, works for the Warrior Transition Command. The command develops programs dedicated to the support, care and healing of wounded, ill and injured soldiers in transition, their families and caregivers.
