CDS began over 30 years ago by a group of parents whose goal was to ensure quality services would always be available for their children.

Chuckie Dell has been with CDS for 27 years.  He works in CDS' Unistel program on Blossom Road, labeling spice   bottles, and lives in a CDS home in Pittsford.  Chuckie loves life and enjoys every day to its fullest.  "CDS gave him independence," commented sister, Sheila.  When Chuckie, now 50, graduated from BOCES, his parents were reluctant to move him into a group home.  Sister Sheila says it's been the best thing for him.  Chuckie travels, participates in CDS' Special Olympics Program, enjoys going to amusement parks, loves roller coasters & water slides and enjoys camping with his family.  Chuckie is even the godfather to Sheila's daughter, Jordan.

Sheila and her family realize and understand the importance of being involved at CDS.  Sheila works as the Office Manager at Providium Consulting Group, the title sponsor for the CDS  Foundation's Golf Tournament, "Teeing Off For Abilities".  She also volunteers her time at CDS, assisting with The Foundation's special events and Special Olympics program. Her sister, Margie, is also involved with the agency; attending agency picnics, advocating for her brother, chaperoning on house outings and assisting with the Special Olympics Program.  "I try to be his voice or protector when he isn't being heard or protected", commented Margie.

"CDS has allowed Chuckie to be the independent person he is today.  He has responsibilities at his home, which have taught him valuable life skills.  Chuckie is fortunate that he has his  biological family and his CDS family because both of them are important to him," added Sheila. Her dreams for her brother to continue to enjoy each and every day and to live life to its fullest.

Thank you Sheila for helping to give back to CDS and the CDS Foundation.  You do impact the 1,300 lives we touch each and every day.
