CDS began over 30 years ago by a group of parents whose goal was to ensure quality services would always be available for their children.

CDS Unistel

CDS Unistel Worker Received 2009 NYSID Award
New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) recognized 49 outstanding New Yorkers with disabilities through its annual William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Awards Program.

Stanley Mui joins the 2009 Class.

Stanley has determination and a positive outlook on life. He enjoys coming to work every day, arriving with a smile and usually sharing his plans for the weekend. Stanley has overcome the challenges presented to him by Mental Retardation, Autism and Cerebral Palsy.

Stanley first came to CDS’s Unistel Program through his school program for a vocational assessment in September 2000. He initially worked at the    former Perinton Road workshop, trying various manufacturing jobs before progressing quickly to the spice room at the Blossom Road workshop.

Although Stanley has had a number of different job responsibilities over the past nine years at Unistel, he has really excelled in capping spice bottles and hand filling spices for the NYS Department of Correctional Services under NYSID’s Preferred Source agreement.

Stanley’s production supervisor reports that he never displays frustration and diligently works toward self-improvement. He is a hard worker, and is very flexible, trying any job assigned to him no matter how difficult it may be. Stanley meets all challenges head on, and always gives 100%.

Best described by others as a pleasant, cheerful, hard-working young man who never complains, Stanley is very active outside of work participating in recreation programs offered by CDS. He enjoys attending respite and doing arts and crafts, and is very   excited and anxious to attend camp for the first time this summer.  Stanley’s personal dream is to gain the skills necessary to  become employed in a community enclave through the CDS Supported Employment Program. He is an excellent and dedicated employee, and has overcome many of his personal challenges.

Congratulations to 2009 Outstanding Performer, Stanley Mui.
